After Team Kakashi's last encounter with Orochimaru and Kabuto, they haven't been seen and word has not been heard. However, Uchiha Sasuke, after training for three years with Orochimaru finally realized that he would never be able to kill Itachi if his body was taken by his new Sensei. Also, Sasuke had grown to be much more powerful than Orochimaru, and realized that the Snake Sannin could make him no stronger. Meaning that Sasuke still wasn't strong enough to defeat his brother. This resulted in a battle between the Uchiha and the Sannin. Orochimaru finally revealed his true form - a white snake. Sasuke transformed into his Cursed Seal Two form, and the battle between the prey and predator commenced. It did not last long; Orochimaru resorted to taking his student's body by force, however the power of the Sharingan prevailed and the battle was done. Sasuke emerged as the victor, but the transfer jutsu of the Sannin had worked. Hadn't it? The Uchiha's power was too great against his own. Orochimaru's mind now lies dormant within Sasuke's subconcious. Now the raven-haired shinobi is on the move with his own team - Suigetsu, Karin and Juugo.
Yet, there is a bit of hope for Konoha too. Shikamaru, Ino and Chouji, still suffering from the loss of their sensei, finally manage to leave Konoha with the help of Kakashi who states that he will be their jounin leader. Devising a plan, Shikamaru leads the team out to where Hidan and Kakuzu await unknowing. Ah, Shikamaru, how well he plots his plans, yet there is a wrench thrown into this one. They know that Hidan cannot die, and they thought they knew Kakuzu's powers, but how wrong they were. Still, in the end, Shikamaru is able to get revenge for his fallen sensei by trapping Hidan in a gaping hole in the ground on Nara property, informing him that he will live the rest of his days there. What of Kakuzu? Who was supposed to know that a man had five hearts... Yet it is Naruto along with Yamato, Sakura and Sai who come to offer support. Naruto is able to trick Kakuzu and destroy the remainder of his hearts.
Poor Madara, what is an evil villain supposed to do? Needless to say, he is anything but pleased with the results of these two. Retrieving the rings of the former Akatsuki members, Madara goes about trying to find replacements for filling these two weakling; replacements that won't let him or the organization down. Still only three Jinchuuriki are left, making the Akatsuki organization close to their goal. Thirsty for power and victory, the Akatsuki vow to take the Jinchuuriki by the years end.
More recently a new shinobi village has appeared; The Village Hidden in the Twilight. The Twilight Village's Kage has clearly stated its allegiance to the other countries and villages.
But wait, what is this?
Now over one year after the three year training period. Life in Konoha has settled back into a normal routine for everyone, including the remaining members of Team 7. Even though war could be lingering just around the Ramen Bar corner, everyone in Konoha and in their allied villages don't seem to be fazed by the idea. Sai has now become an official member of Team Kakashi, to Naruto's horror. But both him and Sai are slowly getting along with each other. Team Ten are sticking with being a three man team and decided not to have a new Sensei; though Kakashi, Kurenai and Gai do look out for them.
Twilight in the mean time has flourished under the darkness of the mountain. It's village supports many people, and each day more flock towards Tsukimono's cause, for word has spread about the utopia that has grown. Any and all are welcome, yet it is still Tsukimono's ANBU five that hold sway, being the only ones that Tsukimono's trusts fully.
